I want a Magic Hug!

In preparation for this weekend's viewing of Lage Raho Munnabhai at the Belcourt on Sunday, I pushed Munnabhai M.B.B.S. (2003) up the old Netflix cue.

SIDE NOTE: Does anyone else want to pimp slap the folks who disabled the chapter button at the beginning of EVERY Eros dvd?! Golly gee whitakers!!!

I liked this movie. It won't quite make it to my favorites list but it was pretty entertaining. I like the way Circuit beat the crap out of the other goons for every infraction. For some reason, that makes me laugh...I'm not in the mood to do a proper review so I'll pose a few poignant questions:

  1. Have you hugged your janitor?
  2. Why does Munna look like 60 years old, trying to kick it with a girl who might be 30? (Is that the casting director's fault, or does no one care?)
  3. What the heck kind of name is Chinki?!?
  4. Did Munna really need to cuss out all of the professors at the college?
  5. Does Sanjay Dutt know he can't dance?
  6. Most importantly, why did the lil' stripper girl at the hospital look like a bootleg Aaliyah? Inquiring minds want to know. I mean, were those cornrows in her head?!

  7. Hopefully, I'll really enjoy the movie on Sunday. If not, I'm sure I'll enjoy talking through the whole film like I usually do.

I talk through movies too! One more reason we have to have a meetup somewhere where there's bigscreen Bolly fun to be had. How about once the Diwali releases are out?

lol Bas! It's all over the internet both ways. However, Pat Boone sang a song entitled Gee Whittakers, if that lends any veracity to my position...

Actually, "Gee willikers" is what they call a "minced oath"; that is, a polite way of saying something stronger, like "My land" instead of "My Lord". Wikipedia says it's a minced oath for "Jesus" or "Jerusalem" - more historical than contemporary, obviously!

I enjoyed Munnabhai but yeah, it's not really as entertaining to me as, say, BnB. But I think that Sanjay Dutt is such a good actor, that it's not so important that he can't dance, as opposed to Sunny Deol, who can't act OR dance.

Fortunately, I haven't had the misfortune of seeing any Sunny Deol flicks. I do however, wish that the Bollymafia would find a reason to crack one of Uday Chopra's legs or otherwise dis-enable him from acting on the big screen.

It's cruel I know but not everyone should do everything...

Okay being that I have never seen this film I am a little distraught that there is in fact a film , with a stripper IN THE HOSPITAL? AND looking like Aaliyah...YES she SURE DOES. Not only is it weirdly jacked up, but it it almost lacks respect for the dead. I really don't know how to feel because I want to laugh and make a sad face?!

I think we watched this on the same day, but I only just got round to writing about it today.

And oh, I am so with you on Uday Chopra, t-hype! That boy just should not be allowed in front of a camera again.

Ah, but when your daddy is bankrolling films for you to be in...
