Korean dramas are Bollywood lite!--Similar story elements sans song and dance.
Not so long ago a reader suggested that I check out 풀하우스--Full House, a 2004 K-drama that featured K-pop star Bi. I warned myself to stay away, instinctively knowing that Bi was merely a "gateway drug" to all sorts of unimagined subtitled substances.
Enter Exhibit A, Kim Sung Su, aka the man on the left. Seriously, he looks good from every angle. How I love a man in a sharp suit--which was his entire wardrobe for the series. *sigh*
Furthermore, judging by this guy, the secret to cloning attractive men was discovered in a laboratory in Korea. (Yes, that's a different person.)

Now I can deceive myself into thinking that just maybe I'm making an impact on this crazy world...starting with K-drama.
Kim is hot, but he seriously needs to do something about his eyebrows. Trim those beasts!
Contrary to what you might think, in the world of Asian entertainment, I know least about K-pop culture. But I'll take a wager and say that last picture is Daniel Henney? Another mixed hottie ...half-white, half Korean. Which leads me to recommend another K-drama: My Name is Kim Sam Soon
(which has Henney in it)
I haven't seen all of it, but it was a huge hit in Korea, and thankfully falls into the comedy-drama category (unlike most other K-dramas which are PURE drama and somebody always dies)

I've watched it on either Imaginasian TV or AZN network, and I was hooked.
I'm african american and why can't they create drama like this for us? Hello, TVOne! The closest I've come to a recent black serial is Westwood Park, a Trinidadian soap opera that has some tasty eye candy of the afro and indo-caribbean variety.

lol mojo, "A lot of duties were neglected" is definitely one way to put it! I stopped counting how many random people I saw in the background of the shots after the 5th episode...
Did I ever mention that I get attached to things very quickly? Well, I am now in the middle of watching another K-drama starring Bi, Sang Doo, Let's Go To School.
It's really good and I am happy to say that so far I've cried only three times. Considering the blubbering mess I was while watching Rang de Basanti, this shows some improvement.

Oh, I definitely mean "by us for us". That's why I said "Hello, TVOne!" They seem to be the only African American network who creates decent entertainment. I didn't want the Koreans to create dramas for us (!). I'd shudder to think of the stereotypes that might make its way into such a drama. I just got back from teaching English in China for a year and they LOVE Korean dramas over there. There were no subtitles, so I never could get into them, but the guys are just too gorgeous for their own good. Every restaurant had a TV tuned into a Korean drama around dinner time and one of my Chinese roommates would sit down to watch it religiously. I would watch for a few minutes just for the eye candy. Thanks for all the yummy pictures.
Ok, so I've seen Sang Doo! Let's Go to School, Full House, A Love to Kill, and My Girl. Methinks I need a job.
Oh, and not to interrupt my job hunt or anything, but where did you find My Name Is Kim Sam Soon? They didn't have it on crunchyroll or MySoju.
